From May 22nd to May 24th the 6th Psychology of Language Learning Conference was hosted by Shantou University. The overall theme of the conference – “Positive Vis-à-Vis Negative and Beyond” – shed light onto the various dichotomies in the field of psychology of language learning and created a suitable environment for introducing our project.


Considering student and teacher engagement as two inevitable aspects of the language learning classroom, the COLATE project investigates the interconnectedness and possible contagion between them. Jasrael Stokes and Sophie Thurner from Team Graz had the honor to represent our project at the conference and provide an overview of the project content, the methods we use and contribute to valuable discussion about the dynamism of teacher and student engagement in the classroom.
