COLATE – The Contagion of Learner and Teacher Engagement
The purpose of this project is to understand the dynamics and synchronicity of language learner and teacher engagement in the language classroom. More specifically, we aim to understand how learners and teachers engage in the classrooms on an emotional, cognitive, and behavioral level, and how this relates to the engagement of other learners and the teacher in the classroom.
Aims of the Project
– improving the understanding of teacher and learner engagement and its multidimensional and dynamic character
– investigating contagion between learner and teacher engagement and emotions as well as the mediating role of contextual factors
– examining the extent of contagion in learners’ emotional, behavioral, and cognitive engagement, both among learners and between learners and teachers over time

This project is funded in Poland by the National Science Centre (NCN) and in Austria by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF).
